We are dedicated to providing a professional team of educators that mirrors the community we serve, including male staff, at Cressy Road Early Learning. We appreciate that this will likely be a source of concern for parents, especially in the light of recent events across the sector. That is why we would like to explain how we provide child safety as we celebrate the important contribution that male educators make to early childhood education.

Why Male Teachers Matter

Research shows that children learn a great deal from being instructed by both men and women teachers. Exposing children to male figures at an early age influences healthy gender roles attitudes and caring behaviour. If children see men and women working together in caregiving roles, they learn that care, patience, and kindness are not gender-related, they are human traits possessed by all.

Male teachers possess the ability to influence kids’ lives, promoting their psychological well-being, confidence, and social competences. For boys in particular, positive male role models in early childhood settings help fight negative stereotypes and portray positive, active forms of masculinity.

Our Robust Safety Practices

Child safety is not optional at Cressy Road. All our workers, male and female alike, go through rigorous screening via Working with Children Checks and extensive reference checks. But we do not stop there.

Our centre is designed to be safe. We have open sight lines throughout our centre so that no educator is ever left alone with a child. Personal care procedures like nappy changing are performed in dedicated areas visible to other staff members. Our educators work in teams, allowing for natural surveillance and accountability.

We also maintain staff-to-child ratios that are superior to legal requirements, which means more eyes on children, more hands to direct, and more supervision at all times.

A Culture of Vigilance and Respect

Our male staff, like all of our employees, are well trained and are highly dedicated to protecting children. They recognise the additional responsibility of their role and are open to additional precautions that provide a sense of security for all. This includes being seen at all times during interactions, operating in team environments, and practicing open communication with families.

We think honesty is the best policy. That’s why we have an open-door policy and you can drop by to see us at any time. We provide daily reports back to you with pictures and scheduled activities so you know what’s occurring in your child’s day. Our staff, are also always available to discuss your child’s progress and address any questions you may have.

Our team members have worked together for decades, over two decades in the case of several of them, evidence of our commitment to creating a stable, professional environment where children thrive.

Moving Forward Together

At Cressy Road, we will not let outdated stereotypes rob children of the valuable learning experience that comes from having diverse role models. Instead, we’re redoubling safety protocols, open practices, and cooperative team effort that ensures each child is safe while celebrating the input of all our educators.

Your child’s safety and well-being will be our highest priority, and that commitment is enhanced, not undermined, by having a diverse cohort of committed, professional educators.

If you would like to learn more about our safety measures or meet our instructors, please visit us or call us. We’d be more than happy to explain how we keep your children safe and provide them with the finest early childhood education.
