Our unique history at Cressy Road Cottage in Ryde

Family homes… built for children from the very beginning. 16 Cressy Road and 18 Cressy Road were originally built by two families as homes for their loved ones. In the 80s these buildings were converted to provide a home away from home for local children needing care.

Today, we continue that tradition by providing early education for local families for people from six months to six years. Upon visiting us many people assume we’re a community-based child care service, but we’ve been privately owned by the same family for the past ten years.

Our Team

Ingrid, who runs the service, is a qualified university trained Teacher and is passionate about every child that comes through the doors. She is onsite, working alongside her team each day. Ingrid’s son attended Cressy Road twenty years ago and many of our team members have their children attending too.

Ingrid’s family takes on various behind-the-scenes roles in the service with the exception of Stella. Stella is our beautiful Boxer and self-appointed “meet and greet”. She is adored by the children (and many of their parents!) and loves to play ball, eat the occasional egg and chase bubbles!

Here at Cressy Road Cottage our team is hand-picked to ensure all children build secure, strong attachments with the people caring for them. Many of our educators have been with us for a number of years, sharing their diverse cultures and language skills. We do our best to place children with educators who speak the same home language to support bilingual children and their families.

Our educators are supported by a management team trained in education at a university level. Both Ingrid and Caitlin are Early Childhood Teachers with extensive experience in the sector. Ingrid, our Approved Provider, has also studied with the RIE Institute to learn about infant Educating® made famous by Magda Gerber.

Caitlin is our Nominated Supervisor and is responsible for the day to day operations of the service. She completed her Certificate III in Children’s Services before most people have finished school and went on to complete her Diploma and then put herself through university.

Ingrid and Caitlin are also proud mums, each having a son!

Leaders in child care, with unique, evidence-based programs

Cressy Road Cottage is also one of the first services in Australia to train with RIE® and adopt the RIE principles. Each child is treated with respect and empathy, listened to and valued.
